Individual, Couple and Family Therapy

Finding Peace, Reconciliation and Hope.

Everyone struggles in this world. Everyone has some difficulties with relationships. And everyone encounters circumstances in life that are difficult to get through alone. The goal of therapy at Hope Community Church is to aid individuals, couples, and families in finding peace, reconciliation, and hope in themselves and in their relationships.

We provide therapy to people dealing with mild to overwhelming degrees of marital issues, family and parenting issues, depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, loss and many other stressors and issues.

Marriage and Family Therapists provide therapy to individuals, couples and families from a systemic perspective, meaning that when treating clients, they take into account clients’ relationships, patterns of interaction, family histories and the context in which they live. All of these factors are important parts of who we are as human beings and can be helpful in evaluating and moving toward a new and healthy context in the future.

What you can expect.

Free Consultation session.
The first meeting with your therapist will be a consultation, in which you will be introduced to what therapy might involve. There is no fee charged for this session and there is no obligation to begin therapy. This session serves simply to introduce you to the therapy process so that you can make an informed decision about entering into it.

Early Sessions–Setting goals.
Once the decision to begin therapy is made, the first one or two sessions are used to get to know and develop a comfort level with your therapist, explore the reasons for seeking therapy, and identify directions for possible change. Typically you, together with your therapist, will set goals toward which you will work for the remainder of the therapy sessions.

Appointments.
Appointments are flexible and will be scheduled directly with your therapist. Regular appointments are scheduled for 50 minutes, commonly referred to as a “clinical hour.” The first one or two sessions, however, may be longer (around 1.5 hours) to complete a thorough assessment. New appointments are generally scheduled at the end of the previous appointment.

Fees

The cost for therapy at Hope Community Church is determined on a “sliding fee” scale which is based on your income. Your fee will be determined at the time of your intake. Fees are typically due at each session, and can be paid by cash or check.

Eligibility.

Our therapy services are available to regular attendees of Hope Community Church as well as guests and those in the surrounding community.

Spirituality.

Though our therapy services are provided by Hope Community Church, we do not require you to avow to any religious beliefs. Our therapist would be glad to discuss your spirituality, beliefs and values in therapy, however, it is not his objective to impose on you any personal beliefs or values, nor those of this church.
