We are a new church in downtown Wichita. We are a church for young families, single parent families, single people, divorced people, homosexuals, heterosexuals, drug addicts, alcoholics, college students, teenagers, punks, computer geeks, porn addicts, the disenfranchised, tattooed people, rich people, poor people, bikers, homeless people, apartment dwellers, home owners, pierced people, gang members, bowlers, golf players, Republicans, Democrats, Independents, hippies, vegetarians, meat eaters, the environmentally conscious, cowboys, farmers, artists, freaks, and musicians. Don't see yourself on this list well, were a church for you too! We are a new church in Wichita that believes with all of our heart in the grace of God and His ability to create beauty out of the brokenness in our lives.

We are located at 813 W. Douglas in downtown Wichita. We are a brand new church and still in the process of getting things ready for "going public" whatever that means. This facility gives us a place to gather in the meantime. On the left is a picture of our new  facility as it looks right now. Nevertheless, changes are coming soon!Stop by, say hello, we would love to meet you! Gathering times to be announced.

"What would happen if Christ walked into a church and had (long hair) and smelled like a homeless person and said, 'Listen everybody, I want you all to quit your jobs, renounce your worldly goods and give away everything you have, and come walk around with me?' I don't think He'd get very far. People would look at Him and say, 'This is not the form of God we're used to!'"

Could it be that our idea of God or the idea that many people in our churches have of God is not the real God at all? Could it be that the God that we think we know is only a vague representation of who He really is? Must we be so arrogant as to think that we (or the particular group that we belong to) have all the answers?

I think that the very idea of the Incarnation speaks of God's desire to have a relationship with humanity - but the "religious" people didn't get it then, and it seems that in many cases, they (or we) don't get it now. We think that everyone has to fit into our little box if they are going to believe in Christ and I don't find that line of thinking anywhere in the gospels.

Jesus spent His time with the poor, the rejected, the oppressed, and the sick. Even His closest friends didn't come from the religious or social elite. I want to spend my time searching the Scriptures -looking for how Jesus lived His life and modeling my life after that.

I think we would all be better if we made that our focus and stopped worrying so much about who is right and wrong and how we can stretch the Scriptures to fit our "group's" teachings. Let us sit before the throne of Jesus and let our hearts overflow with His compassion.

Let us not be afraid to identify the poor, the hurting, the afflicted of society but rather, let our hearts be broken to the point of action and doing something about the ills of society rather than sitting through one more worship service with the rest of God's frozen chosen.
